GM selling Saab; Real, Actual Swedish Cars on Horizon

According to The New York Times, Saab may soon be sold to Swedish supercar builder Koenigsegg.  Although some news reports are claiming it’s a done deal, so far there’s only a letter of intent between GM and a Koenigsegg-led consortium of investors.  Although we’re excitedly looking forward to the day when the last Saab 97x (also known as the ”ButHerFace” edition $50,000 Chevy Equinox) is taken off the road, we can’t say that it’s a done deal.

True, it would make sense to sell the soon-to-be shuttered car dealer to someone with the Swedish heritage (and the cojones) to make Saab cool again, but there’s many factors at play-namely, the fact that Koenigsegg has a mere 50 employees, and their cars are made exclusively from carbon fibre, huge engines and pure awesomeness-something that may not sit well with the stereotypical yuppie Saab owner.  Even worse, this sale appears to be a smart move for The General, and we all know about GM and making smart moves.
