MSRA Rondex Rodarama

This past weekend marked the annual Manitoba Street Rod Association’s big show, “Rondex Rodarama.” As usual, the show didn’t disappoint-the East End Arena was stuffed with more great hot rods and specialty cars than you could shake a stick at. Why you would shake a stick at a car is beyond me, but if that’s what your Rice Crispies tell you to do go for it. Just stay away from my station wagon.

This beautiful 1956 Mercury came courtesy of Don Swaffer.  Just a few weeks ago, he also rocked the crowds at World of Wheels with his nifty wood-panelled surf wagon.

1954 Pontiac Sedan DeliveryWith the recent news of Pontiac’s demise, it would be downright insensitive not to put at least one arrowhead-badged car on today’s post.  First up, Piston Ring’s 1954 Pontiac Sedan Delivery…

Lucky Devils Car ClubThe Lucky Devils Car Club was out in force this year, in the exact same spot as last year’s display.  What was different was the sheer number of cars-at least five rides made an appearance this year, compared to last year’s three.  Then again, this is the club that has thirteen cars between three members.

Pedal toys at 2009 MSRA-Rondex RodaramaThe Lucky Devils even brought toys for smaller boys to the show.  These pedal cars date from 1915 to 1966.

Brent Hoitink's "Bare It All" 1950 Chevy CoupeBrent Hoitink displayed his “Bare It All” 1950 Chevy coupe for the first time since finishing construction this past winter.  And yes, that’s the sight of ground-down metal all over the car.  He didn’t paint his last hot rod, either.

Travis Cool's T-Bucket FordMiraculously, Travis Cool managed to get his crazy 70’s T-bucket to the show.  I say “Miraculously,” because Travis got nailed by one of Winnipeg’s own sh**ty drivers less than a week before the show.  See that fender on the left?  Yeah, it was recently a mangled and twisted piece of scrap metal.

A&W Root Bear at 2009 MSRA Rondex RodaramaIt’s not a car show until the A&W Root Bear shows up (ba-dump, ba-dump….)

Tall T at 2009 MSRA Rondex RodaramaFinally, we have two beautiful T-buckets.  The top is a brand-new, just built Model T “Doctor’s Coupe” style hot rod, while the bottom is Hot Rod Liz’ own machine.  This purple beast will be going its 12th annual Lipstick Tour this summer.
