Pontiac Solstice may have lost its second chance
Every fan of the Pontiac Solstice/Saturn Sky convertible sports car had a brief moment to celebrate last week, when Delorean Motor Company announced they were looking to buy the Wilmington Assembly Plant where the Solstice was built. And just when DMC fans started to feel the warmth of John Delorean’s smile beaming down from the afterlife, automotive upstart Fisker snuck in and bought the facility.
Although every car fan who remembered the ’80s is understandably disappointed, there is still hope. Fisker production isn’t scheduled until 2012, which means DMC could theoretically rent out the building and tooling already in place while they set up a new production facility.
Spokespeople for Doc Brown would not make themselves available for comment.
