AMC Javelin in red white and blue paint scheme

This red, white & blue AMC Javelin might be bold & brash on the outside, in a crazy ’70s kinda way.  But, on the inside:

Pierre Cardin Interior of AMC JavelinYeah, it’s still pretty loud. Actually, this is a very rare interior, designed by Pierre Cardin for American Motors vehicles.  This interior option was only offered in 1972 and 1973, and added a whopping $84.95 to the car’s price tag.

Red White and Blue American Motors AMX at Winnipeg World of Wheels 2010Red, White & blue paint seems to be a common trend amongst modern-day fanatics, but there’s not much information out there on ordering this paint job from the factory.  If anyone knows about a “patriotic paint” option from American Motors, please let us know in the comments section.

The above car was shot at the 2008 World of Wheels indoor show in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, as part of a 6-car display.  We’ll see more of these cars in upcoming galleries!

American Motors AMX at AMC-Manitoba Car Club Show in WinnipegThis white-with-red-stripes 1968 specimen was parked across from the red with white stripes beauty below.  It’s amazing how many of these cars are still on the road, despite their low sales numbers back in the day.

Red AMX at AMC-Manitoba Car Club Show in WinnipegIn fact, there are enough American Motors fanboys (and fangirls) out there that they have their own car clubs.  All of the cars shown here belong to the AMC-Manitoba car club–or at least showed up at their car show.  With more and more people devoting more and more energy into classic vehicles, we can only expect to see more and more classic American Motors steel on the road.  And we’ll be there, taking more and more pictures of these gorgeous machines.
