Cruisin’ the Capital in 2011!
Larry Way, Ottawa’s auto show guru, just gave us the skinny on the UniglassPlus Ziebart Car Show Series (presented by Canadian Classic Cars). It might be just a schedule to some people, but to us, it’s enough to stop the presses. That is, if we actually used presses. Here’s what Larry had to say, in his own words:
The summer car shows are just around the corner and it looks like another great season will be ahead.
The first UniglassPlus Ziebart Car Show Series Presented by Canadian Classic Cars is at Monkey Joe’s on May 14. Westgate Shopping Centre (where Monkey Joe’s is located) has been dug up to lay new water pipes. There is one lane of gravel going into the parking lot. It is scheduled to be repaved on May 30. Our parking lot is fine and it will be business as usual.
Monkey Joe’s Car Shows will continue to have a wide array of door prizes. There is a twist this year though. Each car owner will receive a ballot to be entered in the final draws at Cruizin into Fall & you must be present to win. There will be two ballot boxes this year. One will to be eligible for a set of Firestone tires, a Mega Touch video game compliments of Parker Auto Care, or a Mac Tools die cast set. The second ballot box will be for a pass for two people for the February bus tour to the Detroit Autorama Car Show which includes return transportation, two nights hotel, two VIP passes and invitations to a VIP reception. This will guarantee you two spots on the bus. If you win & you are already scheduled to go then you will go for free. This is sponsored by Young’s Speed & Performance. Each participant will have their choice as to which ballot box they want to put their entry. All Monkey Joe’s dash plaques are sponsored by Campbell Ford.
The Carling Avenue Super Cruise will be on Saturday June 11. Carling Ave. will be under construction in certain spots but the cruise will still happen. There will be discounted meals at Monkey Joe’s and at A & W at Carlingwood Shopping Centre. There will also be a Poker Run. Cards can be picked up in the Monkey Joe’s parking lot from 7:00pm – 7:15pm, 8:00pm – 8:15pm, and so on at 9pm, 10pm & 11pm. The participant with the best poker hand will win $100.00 in A & W gift cards with prizes for second & third best hands. Cards will only be available for the first 15 minutes of each of the five hours. If you miss one, then hope the four cards you have make it.
Boston Pizza cruise nights return again on five Sundays. Each time you attend you will receive a ballot to win Pizza for a year. The draw will be on the last show date on Sunday September 11 & you must be present to win.
Boston Pizza dash plaques are sponsored by Rockland Ford.
Canadian Classic Cars will have their car show on Sunday May 29 with a cruise night/show on Thursday September 22. They have a beautiful showroom with 40 cars for sale & a large die cast selection.
We will have a Capital City Speedway night on Wednesday August 17.
Dave Parker & Parker Auto Care have been strong supporters of the car community for many years and Dave is having another show at his shop on Saturday August 6.
Our Cheo Charity Car Show at the Hazeldean Mall will be on Sunday August 28. Dash plaques courtesy of Campbell Ford & awards compliments of Johnson Welding Works.
Our shows are open at all years, makes & models of vehicles and are all sponsored and all free with the exception of the Cheo Charity Show where there is a $5.00 charge per vehicle with all the monies going to CHEO.
Let’s look forward to a safe & fun car show summer!
