I have it on good authority that the greatest car show in Canada is happening this weekend in London, ON. The Fleetwood Country Cruize-In happens from June 3rd to June 5th, and has more entertainment than you can shake a crankshaft at. It all starts with a kick-off party on Friday at 6 pm. There’s two bands, food is available, and there’s a cash bar. The first car shows runs from 7 am to 4:30 pm on Saturday, with special guests George Barris (inventor of the TV Batmobile), and Candy Clark & Bo Hopkins from the movie “American Grafitti.” If that’s not enough, they’ll have square dancing tractors and amphicars buzzing around in a pond. It’s also a chance to see an on-site Cadillac museum, as well as tours of a 31-car private collection. There’s another dinner/dance show that evening with Juno-award winning band, Lighthouse. Sunday brings back the celebrity guests for another car show, which is expected to bring 3,000 cars, trucks, hot rods, and other bitchin’ rides. If you can make it to London this weekend, drop everything and go. For more info, check out the website.
The granola crunchers are going to freak when the hot rodders descend on Ottawa’s Byward Market this June 5th. For those of you who have been to the ‘Market, you know that space is really at a premium–that’s why you need to spend your $10 to pre-register while you still can. You’ll also get a goodie bag, dash plaque, door prizes, and the knowledge that you’ve just donated to an awesome cause. Contact Melodie at (613) 532-6635, or events (at) byward-market.com to get your name in now!
If you’re the “cruising for a cause” type, head on down to the Children’s Charities Classic Car Show in Waterloo on Sunday, June 5th. The show runs from 9:30 to 3, at the University of Waterloo parking lot X. It’s a measly $10 to pre-register, or $15 to register on the day. Proceeds go to National Service Dogs for Children with Autism.
