This isn’t the first time we’ve featured Gerry Saunder’s 1968 Hurst SC/Rambler Tribute on this site. But with such a perfect reproduction, we just had to feature it again!

Although it wasn’t as bad as in Manitoba, there was more than enough water to go around on the streets of Ottawa. However, the rain didn’t stop a few determined hot rodders from making it out to Carling Avenue last Saturday night for the first Monkey Joe’s cruise night of the season.

Sunday, however, was a different story. The rain gave up around noon, making it safe for the ombrophobic crowd to attend the GM Motorama Show & Shine at Myers Kanata Chev-Buick-GMC. The show was organized by the Highway 43 Car Club, although the Capital Corvette Club staged a pretty decent invasion.
That’s it for today, but don’t forget to subscribe to this blog. We’ll put all of these great photos, as well as the most comprehensive car show calendar in Canada, in your inbox. Simply enter your email address in the grey box on the upper right hand side of this page, and wait for the awesomeness to roll in!
The season’s just getting started, and already there’s a full line up of car shows for the discerning hot rodder. For those who have fine taste in BBQ hot dogs and staring at vintage steel, we recommend the following shows.
Manitoba:
The Manitoba Mustang & Ford Association is kicking off the year with the Ford & Ford Only Spring Breakout Show & Shine at Kildonan Place Shopping Centre in Winnipeg on Saturday, May 21st. The show itself opens to Ford products at noon, and you can ogle these Fords until 4 pm. Club members will be arriving in their Ford vehicles around 10-ish, at which time you can register your Ford and volunteer to help the other Ford guys, if so inclined. Oh, and did I mention it’s a Ford only show?

Cheerio! It’s the 26th Annual “All British Field Meet” in Vancouver this weekend. It all starts on Friday evening with a Meet & Greet and dinner, followed by a car display and swap meet on Saturday, and a run to Whistler on Sunday. Sounds jolly good indeed, old chap! Creston BC will be holding their 6th annual Creston Valley Blossom Festival on May 22nd. The car show will shut down Canyon Street from 9 to 4, while the annoying guy at the coffee shop will complain about the required detours for the next six months. If you’re not one of those people, check out the Creston Valley Cruiser’s web site for more info.
Cumberland, BC’s “Cumberland Empire Days” will feature a car show component at the Cumberland Village Park. The show runs from 9 am to 4 pm, and will be accompanied by everything from a parade to a BMX show, a quilt show, and even a “5K or 10K fun run.” I think that involves travelling a certain distance without a car, although we’re not sure why you’d want to. Check out the website for more info.

There’s a little car club up in Alberta that’s, well, they’re just plain awesome. Founded by just 6 or 7 folks in December of 2002, they organized what would become the “Just Kruzin’ Car Club.” On June 18th, 2011, their awesomeness will spill over into their annual car show.
Featuring live bands, activities for the kids, dyno testing, and some sweet rides, the show will take over Lakeland College’s Lloydminster campus for Father’s day. Registration goes from 9 to noon, with the show itself running from 10 am to 4 pm. For more info, check out their website, or call Dennis at (780) 205.2313.
This scale replica of a 1972 Plymouth ‘Cuda might not be big, but it’s still kind of a big deal. That’s because it appears in the latest SundayCruiseFever.com book, “Class of 2010.” Check out the hardcover edition below for free, and if it’s worthy of a couple bucks outta your pocket, hit the “Buy” icon at the bottom. Any profits go towards our somewhat unrealistic goal of getting this book featured on “Jay Leno’s Garage.”
The sun is shining, the snow is gone, and most of Manitoba is flooded out. It must be spring!
With this sudden turn of the weather, it’s high time for a cruisin’. Here in Ottawa, the Ziebart-Uniglass Plus Car Show Series has stepped up with a season opener, this Saturday, May 14th at Monkey Joe’s Bar & Grill on Carling Avenue. Between 4:30 and 8 pm, the parking lot will be roped off, accessible only to hot rods, muscle cars, and other sweet rides worthy of being at a car show (no, your ’09 Civic with a coffee can exhaust tip doesn’t count). Show organizer extraordinaire Larry Way has lined up some great prizes, and just like every night, Monkey Joe’s has lined up some great food. And if that’s not enough for you, the first 100 cars get dash plaques and 10% off the food inside Monkey Joe’s!
Ford’s Model A wasn’t the first lineup to offer a roadster pickup body. It certainly wouldn’t be the last either, thanks to Chevrolet. This beautiful creature was photographed at the 2009 “Cruisin’ The Island” car show in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba.
